Lets start with your Full Name:

Lochlan Ratkowski

How old are you?

17

Who’s your AFL team?

Western Bulldogs

Where were you studying last year?

I was studying at Staughton College, Melton

How did you hear about the Academy?

I heard about The Academy from my Nan who saw it on the news.

What was the application process like for you?

It was pretty easy for me. I just looked it up online and sent an email and my Aunty did the rest for me. I wouldn’t be in the school if it wasn’t for my Nan and Aunty, as well my Mum and Dad.

Did you have to convince your parents to let you attend or were they on board from the beginning?

They were happy I was going to school, because I wasn’t going to go to school at all this year but this was an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down. The AFL has been a dream of mine since I was a young kid.

The whole program is amazing in my eyes, we are getting educated like a normal school and getting stronger mentally and physically with the gym program.

My whole family, they come to every game even if it’s in the coldest part of winter in Ballarat and give me feedback on what I need to improve.

What do you like to do when you’re not living and breathing footy?

I want to be in the CFA when I’m older if footy doesn’t work out, I’ll always love the Aussie game we call Aussie Rules Football!
