Lets start with your Full Name:

Mouhammed Chandab

How old are you?

16

Who’s your AFL team?

My whole life I’ve barracked for Hawthorn and hopefully one day I can play for them, if not any other team.

Where were you studying last year?

Al Taqwa College was my high school, I was there from year 7 to year 10.

How did you hear about the Academy?

My mate James Krajina asked me if I wanted to make AFL, and I said yes, so he said to come down to The Academy as it would be good to develop a lot more skills.

What was the application process like for you?

The application was easy to sign up, it was short, sharp and simple and easy to get through.

Did you have to convince your parents to let you attend or were they on board from the beginning?

Not really. At the start my Mum just wanted to know what the school is all about and what I was going to achieve from it.

We go to school knowing that we aren't just doing work the whole day, we go to gym, do water aerobics, fitness, running and pilates.

So, how has your first term gone so far, is it everything you expected?

At start I was a bit shy, but the school really made everyone open up and were pretty much a big family. Ben, the teacher, really knows how to make us do work and we all complete it on time and he gives us extra time if we need it. We have a lovely gym, pool, oval facilities and also the classroom is massive.  Something I wasn’t expecting was the mini kitchen that works really well, so we can heat up stuff for recess / lunch.

What’s it like getting to hang out with footy legend Alex Rance while you’re at school?

At the start it was pretty nerve-racking but now Alex Rance is just like a normal teacher. Not many people have the privilege of seeing him almost on a daily basis and also getting a lot of good tips on how to play the game from an AFL player that has the experience.

What is the best thing about attending The Academy?

We go to school knowing that we aren’t just doing work the whole day, we go to gym, water aerobics, fitness, running, Pilates etc.  I really love attending school because I know if i don’t, my results won’t be improving and my work studies.

“Ben, the teacher, really knows how to make us do work and we all complete it on time and he gives us extra time if we need it.”

What do you hope to do at the end of your studies at The Academy?

Well, everyone’s goal would be making the AFL and that’s also my goal. If not, to be on my way as a fully qualified plumber.

If you could meet anyone famous (dead or alive) who would it be?

My biggest idol throughout my life was the champ Muhammad Ali because of his achievements in and outside the ring. I would love to meet up if he was alive.

Who is your biggest supporter?

My family and parents for motivating me to follow my dreams

What do you like to do when you’re not living and breathing footy?

Work-wise, I want to be a fully qualified plumber and adventure-wise, I like boats, camping, fishing and building fast cars.
