Wangaratta Campus Officially Opens!

The Academy Wangaratta opened at its official campus last month at the HP Barr Reserve. The location is a major sporting hub for Wangaratta with two ovals and the Wangaratta Sports & Aquatic Centre located in the same precinct.

The open plan classroom was designed with an interactive and collaborative learning experience at its core. Moving away from a ‘traditional’ classroom setup, the space is equipped with a smart TV and WI-FI allowing the teacher and students to share screens and present work at a central location. There is a couch, front and centre of the classroom, that encourages students to arrive early by offering the most comfortable and best seating position.

There are several collaborative team spaces throughout the campus where students can undertake group or solo work in a private area. This style of applied learning is encouraged at The Academy. An active zone with a table tennis table can be utilised by the students during their lunch breaks – the table tennis games are very competitive!

There is also a ‘chill-out’ zone where the students have their group assemblies, complete with stadium style seating to fit all the Wangaratta campus students. A football oval decal on the wall is used to organise the students’ weekly chores. The space is brought together by large photo posters of the current students in action during their skills and drills sessions.

The close proximity to the oval, gym and aquatic facilities allows the students to undertake their High-Performance Program within the comfort of their campus. It is not uncommon to see the boys out on the oval during their breaks practicing their football skills!
