Experience The Academy!

The Academy Experience Days are held during the school holiday break at our three campuses. The day is designed around the “perfect school day” aimed towards Year 9 and 10 students who are interested in attending The Academy in the future. Students get a hands-on experience of the High-Performance Program which includes football skills and drills with Head of Strength & Conditioning, Jake Giannakis and Head of Football, Alex Rance. Both are experts in their fields and provide an overview of what the boys will do during their time on the field and in the gym when they attend The Academy.

The students also get to experience the classroom curriculum during a 20-minute session. The students take the data from the skills and drills session they have completed and use this in a numeracy lesson. The classroom session is an opportunity for students and parents to understand how The Academy provides a unique learning environment through its hands on and engaging learning approach.

The Academy places an important emphasis on preparing students for life after school. Head of Student Journey, Adam White, takes the boys through a career development session by exploring “career clusters”. This is an insight into Launchpad which is a Year 12 component that sets up students during their last year of education with The Academy.  Each student works closely with Adam and their teacher to understand what pathway they want to go down and use the career report as guidance as to what that could be. The Academy provides many pathway options for students including university, TAFE, apprenticeships and some with the possibility of entering an AFL playing career.

Post event the students receive an Experience Day report, this report details their data from the on-field skills and drills session and their career cluster profile. The report is a reduced version of what an Academy student would receive during their 2 years with us.  Within the High-Performance Program, over the 2 years, your results will help shape your individualised programs and improve your gym, track and football environment. The Career Cluster report is an insight into our Pathway Development Program, helping students discover a range of future possibilities.

Overall, an Experience Day, is a great opportunity for families and students who are interested in the program to come down to their nearest campus and try out the program to understand if it is the right fit for you!
