The Academy – Girls Day

On Sunday October 22nd The Academy celebrated the girls. We’ve seen such amazing things happen in AFLW this year we feel it’s only right to get involved too and open up The Academy to girls.

Next year we introduce our first girls class for year 11’s and to celebrate this we held a Girls Day. If you missed out you can read all about the days events below.

With Alex Rance and Moana Hope leading the day we kicked things off with a Q&A session where the girls got some great insight into all the hard work it takes to be a professional AFLW player. Moana covered everything from working, training, playing professionally, balancing all of this with a personal life and how to react to the social media trolls (she blocks them)!

The girls then got a taste of how a training session at The Academy plays out with Alex, Moana and our strength and conditioning coach Rob Innes. We were all very impressed to see the talent and amazing skills that all the girls had for their age group.

Then back to The Academy for an insight into what a day at The Academy is really like where Alex covered how The Academy came about, why it’s important to him and what to expect if you were to join.

If you missed out on our Girls Day not to worry – there’s still time to enrol for our Year 11 girls class in 2018, spots are filling up so make sure you contact us sooner rather than later.
