What is a Testing Day?

The Testing Day is an opportunity for current year 10 students to learn more about The Academy School, meet Alex Rance and the team, but mostly importantly, exclusively trial for our scholarships.

Why should I register for a Testing Day?

At a Testing Day, students and their families will:

  • Learn about how The Academy School engages students with their education through a shared passion for AFL and support their aspirations to play to the best of their abilities
  • Go in the running for one of the many scholarships available at The Academy School, including some worth up to 100% off their tuition fees
  • Get a taste of what it’s like to participate in the AFL Draft Combine
  • And meet other like-minded students and their families.

What scholarships are on offer?

Each campus at The Academy School offers a range of scholarships focusing on students’ passion for AFL and other circumstances besides just their academic achievements, including:

  • Recruit Scholarship: awarded to dedicated and passionate students to pursue their AFL dreams
  • Socio-Economic Scholarship: aimed at supporting families overcomes financial hurdles to support their student’s education
  • Diversity Scholarship: aimed at celebrating diversity and providing access to an alternative learning pathway

Registering for and attending a Testing Day is a mandatory step towards receiving a scholarship at The Academy School.

Testing Day Structure

3:00pm-3:30pm – Introduction and Information Session

Hear directly from Alex Rance about who and what The Academy School and why we are such a unique and exciting approach  to modern-day education

3:30pm-5:30 pm – Physical Activities to Assess:

  1. Individual Character/Spirit via a Leadership and Teamwork Activity
  2. Speed/Power/Endurance via 20m Sprints, Vertical Leaps, and 2Km Run
  3. Football Skills/Game Sense via Football Drills run by Alex and the other coaches

5:30pm-6:00 pm – Wrap Up and Next Steps

What to bring: Football Boots, Runners, Water Bottle, Training Gear and a COMMITTED ATTITUDE.
